Religious Coalition for Moral Drug Policy Blasts 'DARE'

DRUG EDUCATION

January 1993

The Religious Coalition for a Moral Drug Policy condemned the controversial Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) program for enlisting children to inform against friends and family members who use drugs (Rev. Joseph Ganssle, "Truth or DARE?" Coalition News, Fall 1992).

Wrote Ganssle, president of the coalition: "DARE is not what its name implies. The program takes the immoral abuse of war to a new low -- it employs children in the war against drugs."
