LAW ENFORCEMENTMay-June 1998 |
In early May, Georgia National Guard members staged a mock drug bust at Simpson Middle School in Atlanta. The demonstration included National Guard troops arriving in helicopters and military motorcycles, training guns at mock drug dealers, igniting smoke bombs, and handcuffing mock prisoners. The simulation was performed for 300 eighth-graders as part of the Drug Demand Reduction Task Force of the Georgia National Guard ("Drama class," Atlanta Journal-Constitution, May 8, 1998, p. C1).
