MEDICAL MARIJUANA January 1998

The Alternative Health Resource Center, which provides medical marijuana to seriously ill patients in Oregon, has set up a legal defense fund. On September 24, 1997 the center was raided and inventory and some records were confiscated. On October 29 -- two hours before a planned Halloween fund raiser -- the police again raided the center. At the second raid, Diane Densmore, the director of the center, was arrested for providing marijuana to sick and injured people. Densmore was held in jail for seven days, five of these after a judge ordered her release.
